see a list of recent places in either of the Open or Insert file dialogues. Likewise here (in Firefox) if I click on the insert image icon of this (the forum's) text editor then the"Browse" dialogue again only has Often used places in the Quick Access and not Recent Places. My windows is in Japanese but here is an annotated screenshot.

The"Recent Places" icon/link in the Navigation Pane of Windows Explorer has disappeared. I tried the two"return to default" operations. Nothing. I found the actual file in C:\, deleted a half-dozen corrupted files (the ones over 1 mg in size). Tried dragging the"Recent Places" icon over to the Nav pane - nada.

Recent document option has been removed on Windows 10. Instead, on Windows 10 you have an option recent files. To access it, follow the steps: Press Windows Key + E. Under File Explorer, select Quick access. Now, you will find a section Recent files which will display all the recently viewed files/documents. Hope it helps.

Recent Places shows you the folders that you most recently visited, such as when you download to a specific subfolder, open a specific subfolder from Windows Explorer, etc. This is completely missing under the Quick Access folder (which appears to be the counterpart to the Favorites folder in Windows 8.1).
